    Online Community Platform

    Circle

Circle is amazing! All the best features of Facebook to bring your people together without any of the icky stuff of Facebook like data mining, ads and distractions. And you aren’t at the whim of an algorithm that you have not control over.

Circle allows your people to message each other, post photos, text and videos, comment on each others posts.

You can make your community a paid or free offering and you can also offer courses on Circle.

    Email Marketing

    Convertkit

Convertkit is the email marketing software that I recommend for creating automated sequences and weekly broadcasts. You can also create landing pages, subscribe forms and digital products. It is a lot more intuitive to set up than Mailchimp. Also the owner is a white guy who is not an a-hole. I have heard him talk about the DEIA work he is doing at his company and I have seen it in action.

    CRM (and so much more!)

    Honeybook

Honeybook is a CRM software that allows you to keep track of your projects and clients. You can send invoices, schedule appointments, send and sign contracts, automate workflows and a bunch of other stuff! It has saved me so much time and hassle, especially with the contracts. They also have great community support and have racially diverse presenters.

  • Thinkific logo in a navy blue text

    Learning Management System

    Thinkific

Have you ever thought of creating your own online course? Thinkific’s powerful, all-in-one platform makes it easy to share your knowledge, grow your audience, and scale the business you already love. I tried Teachable first and switched to Thinkific because it has a much more professional interface and building courses was much more efficient than on Teachable. Thinkific integrates with Convertkit and many other apps, as well.

  • Later logo in a blue font with pastel squares in the background

    Social Media Scheduling

    Later.com

Later.com is a social media scheduling app. It is Instagram-focused and can also do Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter. One of my favorite features is the Instagram preview where you can see how your grid looks before you post. You can also schedule the first comment on IG. Before choosing Later I tried Buffer and it worked fine. I switched to Later, however, because it allows first comment scheduling, had a LinkInBio feature and I preferred the visual interface.

    Domain Registration & Hosting

    Hover

Hover is a domain hosting service that has a lot better ethics than GoDaddy. Their rates are compatible with other services and they make a point to support underrepresented groups and non-profit organizations and they’re on the right side of net neutrality.

  • blue interact logo with an elaborated letter "I"

    Quiz Builder

    Interact

One of the best strategies for building your audience and your email list is a quiz. Interact is an excellent tool for that. It has a bunch of pre-made quiz templates that you can use as is or customize to your liking. Interact integrates with Convertkit and many other apps so it is easy to get your leads’ contact information from Interact onto your email list.

  • Asana logo with three red dots above the text

    Project Management

    Asana

I tried 4 project management systems before settling on Asana. We set each one up and used it for a few weeks, which was a huge undertaking. Asana has everything I wanted that was lacking in the other apps - lots of integrations, a comprehensive calendar to see all projects together, the ability to add team members without paying for extra seats are a few of those features.

  • Canva logo in blue and purple coloring

    Graphic Design

    Canva

Canva is an app for creating social media and print graphics. It includes tons of templates for specific purposes as well as stock photos. This is the leg-up you need if you do not have a background in graphic design. It is also helpful even if you do!
